German Program Celebrates 42 Years of International Partnership

This month, Mt. Lebanon High School welcomed 20 students and two teachers from our partner school, the Stiftisches Gymnasium in Düren, Germany, marking 42 years of friendship and exchange between the two schools.

During their two-week visit, the students lived with Mt. Lebanon host families, attended classes, and explored Pittsburgh, including visits to Duolingo HQ, PPG Place, Saturday Light Brigade, and the Strip District. The exchange continues to strengthen cross-cultural understanding and lifelong connections between students in both countries.

In addition, the World Languages Department hosted Sven Hetzler, a visiting teacher from the Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium in Bergisch Gladbach, through a pilot teacher-exchange program organized and funded by the Goethe-Institut Washington. This program connects educators from Pennsylvania and North Rhine–Westphalia to foster collaboration, cultural exchange, and shared learning between schools in both regions.
