APPLYING FOR A WORK PERMIT
In Pennsylvania, minors between the ages of 14-18 must obtain a Work Permit. (Work Permits cannot be issued to children under the age of 14).
Work Permits are issued by the school district in which the student resides. It is only valid for employment within the State of Pennsylvania.
Work Permits are available from the Mt. Lebanon High School Counseling Office (Room F-306), Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Contact 412-344-2053 for more information.
SUMMER HOURS: During the summer months the office is open for permits Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The office is closed from 12:00 to 12:30 for lunch. Please call ahead (412-344-2053) to make sure the office is open and use the B9 Entrance by the Fine Arts Theatre.
Application Process: A work permit application must be completed by the student and must include the signature of a parent/guardian. PLEASE LEAVE PERMIT NUMBER FIELD BLANK. Acceptable evidence of proof of the minor's age must be presented. Acceptable evidence of age can be:
- Birth certificate
- Baptismal certificate or transcript
- Passport
- Affidavit of parent or guardian accompanied by physician's statement as to the age of the minor
- Student school ID with birthdate
- Student driver's license
The applicant (student) must be present to sign the work permit.
